Web design for hotels

Web design for hotels: more direct bookings, less commission

Every booking through a portal costs you a double-digit percentage. Your own website is the only channel where you keep the full margin, and the only one where you can show your house as it really is.

Brands that trust us

The guest is the same, the margin is not

The portals bring you guests, and they bring them reliably. The price is a double-digit percentage on every booking, plus the visibility: in that list you sit between twenty other houses, ranked by criteria that are not yours.

This is not an argument for switching the portals off. It is an argument that the guest who finds you there and then googles your name should land on a website that lets them book directly in two clicks. That guest is already convinced. They do not need more advertising, only a path. Every booking that takes the direct path instead of the detour is margin that stays with you.

What a guest looks for on your site in 30 seconds

A guest on a hotel website does not read. They look for four things, and if one of them is missing they go back to the portal, where all four sit on one screen. That is what a hotel website gets built around.

Availability without a detour

Dates, guests, price. The search sits at the top, not three clicks down under "Reservations".

The actual room they get

A page per room type, with several images, size, amenities and the view, instead of one gallery with nothing assigned.

Location and getting there

What is nearby, how long from the station, where to park. That decides more often than the price does.

A feel for the house

Breakfast, terrace, the people at reception. The difference between your house and the chain next door.

Images are half the room

No copy in the world sells a night as well as the picture showing how morning light falls into the room. And nothing loses you a booking as reliably as a dark phone photo of the double room shot from the doorway.

A shoot is not part of the website package, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is an option, and there are two routes. Either we come by and photograph the rooms, the breakfast room and everything a guest wants to see before booking. Or we take your existing photos and lift them with our AI workflow to a level that works online: brightened, cleanly cut out, consistent across a series, without looking artificial.

The second route costs a fraction and gets surprisingly far with simple phone shots. We came from content production before we built websites, and it is the same process we use for product photography, applied to rooms, breakfast and the view.

Multilingual without becoming a second project

A house in Switzerland rarely has only German-speaking guests. English is mandatory, and depending on the region French or Italian follow. Technically this is where many hotel websites fall apart: the second language hangs off the side as a half-maintained copy, Google cannot tell which version is meant for whom, and the prices are only right in German.

We build the languages as equal versions from the start, with clean language references, so the English page appears for an English search rather than the German one. And we build them so that changing a room rate does not mean updating it by hand in four places.

Seasons, occasions and packages are your best search terms

Nobody searches for the name of your house before they know it. They search for the occasion: spa weekend, seminar hotel in the region, hotel that takes dogs, a night before an early flight, wedding venue. Every one of those is its own search, and every search deserves its own page that answers exactly that question and then leads to a booking.

That is the part that keeps running after launch. We look at what is actually being searched in your region, build the pages for it and adjust them as the season turns. A hotel website that looks the same in January as in July gives away half the year.

All from one place

The website does not fill rooms on its own

A house lives on people seeing it before they search for it. So our work does not stop at the website: we produce the images and videos, we run Instagram and TikTok with what actually happens in your house, and we advertise on the occasions that should fill your rooms. All with the same imagery and the same message, because it comes from one place.

FAQ

Common questions

No, and that is not the goal. The portals bring you guests who would never have found you. The goal is to shift the share: anyone who already knows your name, because they saw you on a portal, got a recommendation or saw a picture, should book directly instead of taking the detour. That share is where you keep the full margin.

Usually yes. The common systems can be embedded as a search widget, as a full booking flow or as a hand-off, and which one is right depends on how much your system can do itself. We look at it before quoting and tell you up front what will and will not work, rather than discovering it mid-project. And if your system hits its limits, or there is none: we can also build the booking ourselves, right on your site. That is its own line in the quote and is not worth it for every house, but where the budget allows it you own the whole flow afterwards, from search to confirmation.

Two routes, and both are an option alongside the website rather than part of it. Either we come by and photograph the rooms, the breakfast room, the view and the spaces a guest wants to see before booking. Or we work with what exists and lift it with our AI workflow to a level that works online. The second route is much cheaper and is often enough for room photos. For the hero image and the breakfast shot, a real shoot almost always pays for itself.

German and English almost always. French or Italian when a meaningful share of your guests actually comes from there, and your own booking data shows that better than any agency can. More important than the number is that every language is fully maintained. Half an English version does more harm than good.
